Toshiba shows off glasses-free 3D display.

3D has invaded 2010, but there’s just one thing that made it slightly ‘unsuccessful’, and that’s the glasses. They’re bulky, and uncomfortable, not to say making the movie slightly darker if the glasses is worn out with lotsa scratches. But something’s telling me the glasses will go, soon. Check this out. Toshiba’s new glasses-free 3D display tilts images from their Toshiba Mobile Display division.

By sticking a six-axis accelerometer in this 12.1-inch slate, the company can tilt the tablet’s viewing angle as the tablet itself is tilted, letting viewers effectively look around 3D objects on screen, using software algorithms rather than the fancy lens-and-camera assembly that Microsoft’s been prototyping.
There’s no mention what product will receive this cool technology, but then again this is only a prototype. Toshiba stated that e-tailers would love this product. Well, I’m not sure how that fits in until the real deal is out.
